March 21, 2023Chinese Consulate Lahore and the Institute of International Relations & Media Research (IIRMR) are jointly holding a nation-wide essay competition titled “CPEC 10 years on “Grassroot Level Impacts & Improvement on Socioeconomic Status of General Public in Pakistan” from 1st March to 30th March.
Essay Competition will last for 30 days invoking students’ insights and intellectual perceptions on the subject of China Pakistan Economic Corridor, its contribution in public sphere, role in modern skills enhancement, role in job creation, merits and demerits in the wellbeing of common man, youth and women empowerment and those unexplored areas that may help incentivize all and sundry to grow and flourish in new era.
Chinese Consulate Lahore in its official statement asked higher classes students hailing from all provinces especially AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan to participate in the Essay Competition with fervency.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of the launching of CPEC. As the landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC not only has promoted socio-economic development in Pakistan, but more importantly has brought tangible benefits to each and every Pakistani across the country. You may not suffer the frequent power cuts. You may spend less time traveling from Karachi to Peshawar. You may make more profits by planting crops in collaboration with Chinese agronomists. You may be provided jobs and internships,” statement added. It said that essay competition welcomes you to participate and share with us the feelings on what changes CPEC has brought to you.
IIRMR Chairman Muhammad Mehdi and President Yasir Habib Khan said that educated youth are assets of Pakistan and can play its vital role in CPEC through their productive thoughts, written expressions and practical involvement. “We welcome student to come up with prolific essay pieces on the subject,” they said.
“Results will be announced on 5th April with cash prizes to top five winners. Rs. 40,000 for 1st position, Rs. 25,000 for 2nd position, Rs. 15,000 for 3rd position and Rs. 10,000 for 4th and 5th position respectively. The competition is open to current students from 11th Class to Master, aged between 15 and 25 years, they said.
Lahore Overseas China Association (LOCA) Luo Jianxue termed the essay competition as a healthy activity to know CPEC and its impactful vibes in socio-economic life of public. He said “this year is the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan economic corridor, and China-Pakistan economic corridor is the bridge of friendship between Pakistan and China , Pakistan is the only all-weather strategic partners, China-Pakistan economic corridor is China and Pakistan build trade cooperation, aims to promote and strengthen transportation, energy economy and in the field of exchanges and cooperation, improve the level of connectivity, promote common development,”
He said that over the past decade, more than 20 CPEC projects have been basically completed, and it is expected that they will be nearly completed in another 63 projects by 2030. “The Lahore overseas Chinese associtaion will continue to work together to build a China-Pakistan community with a shared future,” it added
